I purchased my antique house a year ago and not knowing any local companies called Terminix. The account person came out and informed me that not only was I fully infested with termites (rarely seen in this part of Vermont), boring beetles, carpenter ants and spiders but I also had a Norwegian rat problem and he showed me pictures of things all over my home which were not actual pictures he had taken but just pics to scare me. He said I needed an exclusion contract to the tune of $2500 and traps all around the perimeter of the house to draw out the termites. An appointment was made for the exclusion work to be done which would include sealing anywhere light entered the home and around all windows and new garage door surrounds to keep rodents out. When the sweet team of 2 young kids came weeks later to do the work they informed me that there was nothing to do. The garage enclosures were for new homes and could not be put on my antique home. They saw no evidence of any infestation but did install the termite bait traps as part of the regular service. The exclusion service was not done. Of course as soon as they left I was charged over $2k for NOTHING!!!
I refused to pay and it took me months and help from my field office and the exterminator who came every three months to get me out of the contract which they illegally put me in! Once out and on their regular plan for rodents, (which btw in all my traps in the attic, garage, and basement I have caught only 2 mice and a chipmunk in the garage which is often open. Not a creature ever in the house which was said to be infested!) my regular terminix guy came to spray for spiders and check traps regularly. He eventually quit because he felt the company was horrific and working conditions were miserable and he had heard too many complaints just like mine. NOW I want out, and guess what they won’t let me out of my regular contract until August when the traps will be checked. If I quit early they will charge me a penalty!!!!!!! And they were supposed to come in May for the regular visit but since my regular guy quit they have no one to send and I guess they will take my money anyway.
PLEASE stay away from this company. They take advantage of everyone and have fraudulent practices. It is simply shameful.
