We have been using Terminix for years on our home and our rental home. They just do the spray outside and inside when needed. Apparently at our rental home the employee who comes to spray reported to his boss that there was a hole on the outside of our crawl space area. So they suggested an inspection in case anything had gotten in. The hole in question had been there since we have own the home. It is actually a vent to help keep the crawl space dry. The vent on the outside had come off. Anyways this guy shows up helps himself to the crawl space without even asking, he said he was going to walk around the outside of the home. When he comes up he talks about how wet it is and that there is rotten duct work. That there is mold everywhere, we need a dehumidifier installed and we need vapor barrier since there is none . He quotes us $20,000 dollars to do the work. Well little did he know the family that rents this home from me is my cousin and they go down there to check all the time. They informed me they went down there to check it out see what he is talking about. Said it is literally dry as a bone, don’t need a dehumidifier, there is mold in one corner that was from a leaky spigot. There is already vapor barrier installed and it looks fine. There is one drain that can be replaced but that is it. All that work can be done on our own for less then 300 bucks. They are nothing but crooks watch out!
